Can you give this mature dog a loving forever home?
By Carl Petersen
Sometimes man doesn’t deserve his best friend. Every year five million animals enter into shelters nationwide and 3.5 million of them are euthanized. (1) When a dog is brought into a shelter, it only has a 44% chance of leaving alive. (2) After offering its loyalty and companionship, these dogs are simply discarded for an uncertain fate. In one study it was found that four percent of dogs were relinquished because they were sick. (3)
Sugar is one of the lucky ones. After spending time at the Lancaster shelter she was saved by AyeChiMomma pet rescue (https://www.facebook.com/ayechimomma
) and is now safe from the threat of being euthanized. However, this is just a transitional step. She still needs someone that will commit to giving her the permanent home that she needs.
If you are looking for a mellow companion who likes to cuddle or just sleep by your side, Sugar is just the dog for you. She is a Sheltie mix. As an older dog, she is slightly hard of hearing but does respond to hand signals. She is also doggie door trained as long as there is not too much of a step.
You can visit Sugar at the weekly Sunday adoption event at the Petco in Granada Hills. They are located at 10819 Zelzah Avenue in the Granada Village shopping center next to Sprouts. The hours are 11:00 to 5:00. If you have any questions, you can also leave a comment on this blog.
